If we are going to see the FRUIT of living a 'Christos life" as Jesus did, then we're going to have to come out from the shadows and darkness of our human thinking and step into the light of the Spirit or Consciousness. We will have to shed the weights that keep us LAW-bound. Jesus was and IS the Light and though we see through a glass dimly, we can brighten and lighten our life by moving deeper into the things of the Spirit- of which we ARE.
We've read it, we've said it, and we know it, and yet we continue to not DO IT. Just DO IT!
The LAW brings death while the SPIRIT brings life. "I am the LIGHT of the world" proclaimed Jesus who became and modeled the "Christos" that we're all to become. The I AM that is within you is the light of the universe. Make those stories, metaphors, and parables that Jesus spoke come to LIFE and LIGHT! What is that "city set upon a hill"? It is a state of Consciousness which recognizes and embraces the "Presence" and lives it.
When you come into contact with someone who has stepped into the LIGHT and walks in it, you KNOW IT! :-)
Listen, all of that is a good starting place.
We can't see clearly because we're burdened down with the weight of doctrines, dogmas, rules, hermeneutics, and the myriad of minutia of verbs, tenses, and articles of speech. Listen, all of that is a good starting place. The LAW and TECHNICALITIES are a good place to begin, but they all POINT to the LIGHT- the Spirit, Consciousness, God. They are not God. The finger which "points to" is not the thing to which it points.
Quit looking at your FINGER!
Two of the most important macro-apporoaches that we can take in understanding the Bible are to ralize that Jesus was a Jew and that Christianity is not a Western religion! CONTEXT, context, context. We can get enough of the Spirit through our Western, Greco-Roman views of the bible to make it through life, but there's much more. Going from there to an Eastern, story-telling, metaphorical understanding will lead us into more LIGHT!
